Classroom Training

CBCS offers franchisees and other small businesses training and support to help them better understand the need for good financial, cost and working capital management.

Most new franchisees will have only a basic understanding of financial matters when they buy a franchise and whilst franchisors all offer basic training and ongoing advice in this area; the truth is, once the franchise agreement has been signed and the franchisee commences training, the franchisee is on his/her own. Frequently that means a critical aspect of the business is left to the franchisee to deal with.

Induction Training

New franchisee induction courses are invariably carried out by the franchisor and with usually a large area to cover; one section can easily merge into the next. The new franchisee needs to be able to distinguish this section of their training and once they start to trade, being able to recollect the relevant aspects of the course is critical.

We offer a two hour intensive training workshop, covering all aspects of accounting and financial management, both generally and specific to the franchisor. (see attached FRANCHISESUPPORTTRAINING-AREASCOVERED.pdf  for details of items covered). The course is designed to stimulate discussion and understanding and can be tailored to the precise requirements of the franchisor, in terms of management reporting and other financial obligations.

An optional Reference Guide can be produced as part of the training process or as an individual handout for new franchisees. This can be produced in PDF format or printed and bound in franchise corporate styling.

Financial Information

Most franchisees struggle to keep on top of their finances once they start trading. The pressure to grow their business and keep those new customers coming in often means that financial issues take a back seat. Costs, cash-flow and recording of financial information are critical to the franchisees survival and yet attention in these areas is usually reactive, rather than proactive.

We offer a number of solutions in this area; but frequently that the simplest solutions are the best ones. Single page datasheets which record pertinent information clearly and concisely usually provide all parties with the information which they need.

We have developed two key documents, which can be tailored to the corporate styling and business characteristics of the franchise.

● Twelve month P&L account

● Twelve month Cash-flow Forecast

These are one page formatted excel documents, with protected cells to prevent deletion or overwrite of key information. They are designed for ease of use and understanding as well as being the preferred method of presentation to banks and loan providers for funding applications.

Franchisees can be trained to use these documents to support their day to day trading, encouraging them to sustain a broader interest in the financial status of their business, in terms of cost control, margins and cash-flow.

In addition we are able to develop or enhance management reports to encourage standard and timely production of management information from the franchisee to the franchisor. Thus improving the flow of information back to head office and providing the franchisee with relevant data on a day to day basis.

Support Visits

For existing franchisees, either as a standard offering, or as and when required by either the franchisee or the franchisor. We can visit your franchisees, discuss their financial set-up, and offer advice where appropriate, whilst gaining an understanding of any issues, which can be fielded back to the franchisor for action if appropriate. Additional training (see below) or support, can be offered either as a cost to the franchisee or the franchisor.
